Well since all the cool book openers have already been taken:
- It was the best of times...it was the worst of times...
- Call me Ishmael...
- In the beginning...
I'll dispense with trying to come up with a creative start. All the best themes have been turned into theme parks, so I won't go there. (Anyone remember the movie that quote comes from?)
Anyway, welcome to the NDPT blog folks, I hope you like what I'll say in the posts to come. My goal is to post notes about our recurring poker games. I'll also give you my running commentary of my own online poker room exploits. Trust me, there WILL BE bad beat stories. And you WON'T be seeing my mug on the WPT anytime soon.
Up until now, I was a loyal UltimateBet.com player. Their recent upgrade, general slowdown, and a never-ending series of suckouts have prompted me to look for another room. I stumbled across some affiliate programs that hooked me up with a bankroll. ParytBacker.com first got me started on PartyPoker, but I've learned that online BlackJack is a BAD THING! So now, I've moved on to PokerSourceOnline.com. Thanks to them I'm now playing on TitanPoker. Rake and SNG fees are a little higher, but the jury is still out on whether or not it's a berry patch. I also came across Bodog.com, and purely by accident signed up for an account to play in a freeroll. Yes, I'm very cheap! Next day, I get an email from Bodog, inviting me back to play in a "private" freeroll. I recognize it as a ploy to get my business. Somehow I end up with a 3rd place finish, they offer me a free book, a tournament entry fee ($109) and a $50 matching bonus, if I'll deposit. I had a little cash in the ole Neteller account, so voila I'm now a Bodog customer. Thus far, it's been a good move for me. The SNG's were kind to me last night. Let's see if that trend continues. If for nothing else, Bodog got my attention because they seem to be actively "drumming" up business by offering incentives.
In other news, youth baseball season starts for my son and I tonight. It's gonna be a busy Spring/Summer. Looking forward to working with the kids again though.
Lastly, my Vegas trip is less than 29 DAYS AWAY!!!
