WSOP 2009 Events 24 & 25 winners, and updates 26-31

In Event 24 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Pete "The Greek" Vilandos finally came out on top. The 69 year old Vilandos outlasted the 2,506 players who began the event. He takes home $607,276 and the WSOP bracelet. This is his 2nd career WSOP bracelet. Congratulations.

In Event 25 - $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8-or-better, Phil Ivey took the top spot and got a great deal of attention for the victory. He bested a field of 376 players, to take home the WSOP bracelet and $220,538. This marks his 2nd bracelet (thus far) in this years WSOP, and his 7th lifetime bracelet. Congratulations Phil!

As of now I see that Event 26 - $1,500 Limit Hold'em now has a mere 4 players remaining of the 643 who began. A top prize of $197,488 awaits and of course the bracelet as well. Still remaining in the hunt are: Al 'Sugar Bear' Barbieri, Tomas Alenius, Jason Tam and Glenn Engelbert.

6 of the starting 198 players remain in Event 27 - $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better. The top spot will payout $246,616 in this one. Currently in the lead is Scott Clements, but some other tough customers remain including: Roland De Wolfe Robert Campbell, Brett Richey, Alex Kravchenko, and Andrew Black.

Day 2 of Event 28 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em is currently underway with 210 players remaining of the 2,641 who began the journey. $639,331 awaits a winner...

Day 2 of Event 29 - $10,000 World Championship Heads Up No Limit Hold'em is still under way. 256 players started this heads up competition, and currently on 37 remain. Top prize of $625,682 awaits the ultimate victor. By winning today's heads up match, Brock Parker has sewn up his 5th cash thus far in this years WSOP, and a couple of gold bracelets too!

Day 1 of Event 30 - $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha found 436 players at the start. They are now down to around 243 players. Top prize will be a $235,685 payout. Still a lot of poker to be played.

And lastly for today and just getting underway is Event 31 - $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. No official word on the numbers of players, but the updates I'm sure will come soon enough from the folks at PokerNews.com!
