Event #2 the $40,000 buyin, 40th Annual NLHE event, now has a winner, Vitaly Lunkin. He bested a field of 201 players to take down the whopping 1st prize of $ 1,891,012, and the coveted WSOP bracelet. This is his 2nd WSOP bracelet. Congratulations Vitaly Lunkin! Isaac Haxton and Greg Raymer finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Play came to an end around 4 hours ago.
Event #3, the $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-betterhas also come to a close as well with "defending champion" Thang Luu coming out on top, winning the $263,135 and the WSOP bracelet. This is his 2nd bracelet... in the SAME event... in CONSECUTIVE years! Fantastic accomplishment besting the field of 918 players, congratulations Thang Luu! A quick looksee of the payouts in this event, shows only a couple of standout names in the top 20, namely Freddy Deeb in 10th and Eli Elezra in the 20 spot.
Event 4 - $1,000 No Limit Hold'em finished up Day 1b and the action will get back under way today. Approximately 3,000 players showed up on Day 1a and were whittled down to 376. Day 1b boasted 6,012 players starting and they whittled that grouping down to around 400 players. All those who remain will return to the Amazon Room today, to continue to thin the herd.
Event #5 $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha and Event #6 $10,000 World Championship Seven Card Stud will get under way today, at noon and 5:00pm PST respectively.
