WSOP 2009 Events 7 & 8 winners, plus updates 9-12

Event 7 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em has a winner, Travis Johnson. He bested the field of 2,791 players and took home $666,853, the bracelet and the bragging rights. Congratulations on the victory.

In Event 8 - $2,500 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw however we have familiar face kids... Phil Ivey took down the win in this event against a total of 147 entrants. This marks Phil's 6th WSOP bracelet. He takes that and the top prize of $96,361 away with this victory. According to reports he had some side action, prop bets going on as well. Go figure...

Event 9 - $1,500 Six-handed No Limit Hold'em will return for Day 3 today, with only 8 of the original 1,459 remaining. Currently in the chip lead is Charles Furey.

Event 10 - $2,500 Pot Limit Hold'em/Omaha will resume today as well, having only 18 of the original 453 starters remaining. The only name I quickly recognize in the running is Hevad Khan, but he is on a dangerously low chip stack.

Day 1 of Event 11 - $2,000 No Limit Hold'em will resume today as well, with 252 players remaining of the starting 1,646. You'll just have to stay tuned on this one.

Event 12 - $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event will resume today at 2:00pm PST. 128 or 194 players remain... and lookee there, why currently the chip leader is Kid Poker Daniel Negreanu. There are FAR TOO MANY big names still in this thing for me to even list. Go look at http://www.pokernews.com/wsop/2009/event-12/chip-counts/day1/ to see where they currently stand!

Event 13 - $2,500 No Limit Hold'em and Event 14 - $2,500 Six-handed Limit Hold'em will join the mix today, and add to the overall joyous pandamonium that is the WSOP!

Have a great day everyone... and in case any of you have forgotten, there's a REAL poker tournament happening tonight! : ) The crew is converging on the Eagles Aerie tonight, for the $25 tournament. Registration begins at 6:00pm EST, game time 7:00pm sharp (-ish)... Hope to see you all there. Bring your wallets!

Regards,
