Event 29 - $10,000 World Championship Heads Up No Limit Hold'em has finally come to a close and rising out of the 256 entrants to claim this heads up title is Leo Wolpert. He battled his way through 7 heads up matches which included Dustin "Neverwin" Woolf, David Pham and finally John Duthie. He takes home the WSOP bracelet and a heavy wallet, with an additional $625,682 in it. Congratulations!
Event 30 - $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha which drew 436 entrants has crowned its champion as well, and we find J.C. Tran coming out on top to claim the WSOP bracelet and $235,685. This marks Tran's second WSOP bracelet. A few other names caught my eye, as having cashed in the event including Theo Jorgensen, John Juanda, David Chiu, and near the bottom of the payouts Phil Ivey. I'll remark here also that this is the event that Phil Ivey was "running-over-to" during his breaks whilst he was still playing in (and ultimately winning) Event #25! One step further, he finished 44th out of 45 paid spots in Event 30. Recall that bwop finished 39th out of 40 paid spots in Event 25. So, I guess what I'm sayin' is maybe she should been in this event too! Perhaps a role reversal was destined for you here!!! : P Sorry I couldn't resist! BUT back on track now, Congratulations to J.C. Tran!
About three and a half hours ago, Event 31 - $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. also came to a close, and we find James Van Alstyne coming out on top of the 770 player pack. He takes home the WSOP bracelet and $247,033 for the tremendous effort. Van Alstyne appears to be having a good series. Just a few days earlier in Event #21 he was heads up in the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament. He came up in 2nd place to Zac Fellows in that one, but still pocketed a cool $192,866. Just once, I need a couple of days like that! Congratulations!!!
A little over an hour ago... (ugh) the weary/bleary eyed players in Event 32 - $2,000 No Limit Hold'em, called it a day, having whittled the starting 1,534 players down to the final 19 players. The current chipleader is Mika Paasonen. They can all rest easy at this point, that they're all going to get paid, but that top spot looks mighty juicy at $530,548. They'll need to get some sleep and eat those Wheaties before returning at 1:00pm to get started again!
12 of 185 players remain in Event 33 - $10,000 World Championship Limit Hold'em. Your current chip leader is Kenny Hsiung, but some others including the likes of Maria HO, Greg 'FBT' Mueller, Daniel Alaei, and Jennifer Harman may have something to say before it's all over. Top prize of $460,836 and WSOP gold awaits.
Day 1 of Event 34 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em reduced the 2,095 player field down to 243 before calling it a night. Only the top 216 spots will get paid in this one.
Scheduled to get underway today is Event 35 - $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha. Stay tuned to the PokerNews.com coverage.
I hope some of you are finding my greatly reduced recaps useful or at least not bothersome. I know a lot of you are unable to access many of the poker reporting sites during work hours, but I know a lot of you do check the blog from time-to-time. The credit and the real effort goes all to the PokerNews.com reporting crew. My quick rehash is just my observations based on what they have to say... and are the things that I find intriguing. Thanks for sharing in the experience with me!
