WSOP 2009 Updates for Events 24-28

Day 2 of Event 24 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em has come to a close with 19 of the original starting 2,506 players remaining in the hunt for WSOP gold and the top prize of $607,256. Sorry, a quick glance of the names of those remaining... and none jump off the page at me. No offense, I'm sure you're all stand up guys, I'm just sayin'...

I mentioned Event 25 - $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8-or-better, earlier to let you know that bwop finished in the money! Congrats again! But now I'll go on to say that there remain only 14 of the starting 376 players. There could still be a LOT of time left on this tournament clock. A $220,538 top prize awaits the victor.

In Event 26 - $1,500 Limit Hold'em there are still 124 players (643 started) all vying for the top spot of $197,488. The top 63 will get paid in this event. Some of the easily recognizable names still in the running are: Bill Chen, Justin Bonomo, Paul Darden, Bryan Devonshire, Barry Greenstein, Zelong Dong, and Shannen Elizabeth.

Event 27 - $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better will return today for Day 2. 59 players remain of the 198 who started. Another quick looksee of the names reveals, Daniel Negreanu, Alex Kravchenko, Mike Matusow, Scott Clements, Eli Elezra, Roland De Wolfe, Jeff Lisandro, Barry Shulman, Andy Bloch, Mike Sexton, Jason Mercier, Amnon Filippi, and Phil Ivey.

Event 28 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em will get under way today at noon PST. And then, later at 5:00pm PST Event 29 - $10,000 World Championship Heads Up No Limit Hold'em will get under way. There's still lots of poker to be played in this year's series. Stay tuned, and follow along over at PokerNews.com.
