WSOP 2009 Event 48 winner, updates for 49-53

Event 48 - $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better is over and Brandon Cantu bested the field of 762 players. He takes home $228,867 and WSOP gold and glory for his victory. Congratulations.

53 of the starting 95 players will return today at 2:00pm in Event 49 - $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E. Only the top 16 will get paid in this event, and there are so many talented players in this event that it's just too close to call. Right now the field reads like a "Who's Who of Poker!" Gus Hansen is the current chipleader. Just thought I'd mention him since I'm just about finished with his book "Every Hand Revealed." : )

The final 8 of 57 players will return at 2:00pm for Event 50 - $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout. Rough final table indeed including David Williams and Greg 'FBT' Mueller.

Event 51 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em will also resume at 2:00pm where 349 of the 2,781 players will return. Stay tuned.

Scheduled to start today are Event 52 - $3,000 Triple Chance No Limit Hold'em and Event 53 - $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8-or-better at Noon and 5:00pm respectively.
